An person at a campaign event taunted Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with a "participation trophy" days before the Iowa caucuses. The incident happened on Saturday, after DeSantis's town hall meeting with supporters in Atlantic, Iowa. With an award in hand, the unnamed person approached DeSantis in front of the cameras.

"Gov. DeSantis I would want to give you this participation award. DeSantis made an effort to put the incident behind him by declining the gift, but several audience members could not contain their laughter after the practical joke.

In spite of the DeSantis campaign spending millions of dollars, former President Donald Trump leads handily in Iowa, according to Real Clear Politics. The DeSantis camp is hoping to finish second and surpass former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley in the coming days.

Pundits and political experts have conjectured that for DeSantis to have any chance of winning the Republican primary, he must surpass Haley on Monday night. According to RCP, Haley has a marginal advantage over the governor of Florida (17.8%) compared to DeSantis (15.5%). the guy stated as the gathering started to chuckle. DeSantis and his spouse Casey DeSantis first seemed to find the act humorous.

"We're proud of you for trying, even though you're probably not going to win the election," the guy went on, but DeSantis cut him off with, "I don't do participation trophies, sorry buddy."

"He's special, he's unique, and he's our little snowflake," the dad said. The individual was then swiftly led from the event by DeSantis security personnel away from the cameras.
