Officials announced on Thursday that a man who was being sought in connection with the murder of a Maryland judge has been discovered deceased. The judge had previously ruled against the man in a child custody case.
According to a statement from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the remains of Pedro Argote, aged 49, were discovered in a wooded area close to the spot where his vehicle had been found the previous week.
The cause of death was not provided by the sheriff's office.
Argote had been the subject of an extensive search by law enforcement officials following the tragic shooting death of Judge Andrew Wilkinson. The incident occurred on October 19 in Hagerstown, Maryland, when the 52-year-old judge was fatally shot in the driveway of his residence.

Wilkinson had recently presided over a divorce hearing where the decision was made to grant custody of Argote's children to his wife.
